The project team enjoyed a great opening ceremony with traditional Balinese dancers and a warm welcome by our hosts.

Engineers from each of the participating Higher Education Institutions came together to hear about electric/electrified powertrain concepts and system layout, including components and design criteria as well as energy management, supply and storage systems, trained by Angelo Bonfitto from Politecnico di Torino (Italy). In the evening we were invited by our hosts to the social dinner at famous Jimbaran beach, enjoying the sun set and great Balinese food.

Day 2 was dedicated to the current state of automotive development, model-based systems engineering with an introduction to SysML and a practical session on agile project management including Scrum and modelling of a use case and activity diagram, which was taught by Christian Granrath from FH Aachen (Germany).

On day 3 the participants followed presentations by Angelo Bonfitto on automation in modern vehicles, which included ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), IT connectivity and vehicle charging systems.

On the morning of day 4 a short project management session was implemented, followed by a campus tour at Udayana University. Our hosts showed us the labs for mechanical engineering, a demonstration of the students’ racing team and the rectorate. Afterwards, all participants had the chance to visit Politeknik Transportasi Darat Bali, the Bali Land Transportation Polytechnic, introducing the team to their educational efforts and their labs.

The training in Bali was completed with a visit at U.C. Silver, a traditional and famous silver and gold jewelry work shop. At their roof top we closed the meeting whilst enjoying a wonderful dinner with a view.
